Carl Crawford talks to Red Sox

Multiple baseball sources have confirmed that the longest-tenured player in Tampa Bay Rays history had a meeting with the Boston Red Sox’s. According to the report the Red Sox are interested in Crawford to shore up their weak outfield.

Crawford was a 4-time All-Star with the Tampa Bay Rays and earned $10 million in 2010 season. Last season he hit 19 home runs, stole 47 bases, drove in 90 RBIs, scored 110 runs, and had a batting average of .307. Reports are Carl is seeking an 8 year deal worth about $17 million per season.

In the back of my mind I still feel he is a better fit for the Angels roster. I hate to see him out on the open market but what can a small market do? They can’t afford to pay him what he is worth.

Lebron's Return to Cleveland

The man who’s one line which stabbed so many Cavaliers fans through the heart is coming back to town for the first time. When Lebron James said the now famous line “taking my talents to South Beach” you could hear a collective thud from all the fans in Cleveland collapsing onto the ground. I have never seen athlete who had an entire city in the palm of his hand smack the (blank) out of his loyal followers. It was even had for me to laugh and make fun of them, it was that bad.

Well the time has finally come and Lebron's chickens are coming home to roast. The game between the Miami heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers has the makings of a NBA Championship with the atmosphere which will be in the Quicken Loans Arena Thursday night. It should be a sign how tense the situation will be because the NBA has placed extra security at the hotel and arena. Also the Heat will arrive in Cleveland the morning of the game and fly out right after.

When Lebron James finally walks out of the tunnel onto the court it will not be to a roar of cheers or a standing ovation, there will be no baby power tossed into the air, There will be a torrential down pour of boos’ and obscenities like no human has ever seen before. The Quicken Loans Arena holds roughly 20,562 and ever one of them will be expressing the pain and dislike for the man who use to be so love.

My advice to Lebron… Go 0-fer, Go 0-20, Go 0-25. Don’t make a single point. Miss every shot, donk every dunk, blow every lay-up. The fans will realize what you are doing and will accept you apology. You may look like an idiot for 1 game, but that one game will be the largest unspoken “I am sorry” to the fans who made you King James.

The Fight

During the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan ripped off each other’s helmets and began to fight. The brawl lasted about 10 seconds, but was worth it. Finnegan tried to be physical with, in my mind, the top wide receiver in the league by putting his hands into Johnson’s face. Andre didn’t really appreciate the gesture and ripped of Cortland’s helmet, which then was followed by Cortland ripped off Johnson’s helmet. This is when Andre Johnson went to work, dropping haymakers on Finnegan.

After all was said and down both players were ejected from the game and rightfully so. Although Jeff Fisher couldn’t figure out why Finnegan was ejected and did his usual dump founded look up at the podium. The NFL will not tolerate any fighting during a game regardless if you threw a punch or not. If you were involved you are ejected plan and simple.

Vikings Fire Childress

At the start of the season the main topic for discussion was will Brett Favre return to the level of play he did the year before when he almost took them to the SuperBowl. Now the season has fallen apart, Brett is hurt, Vikings have a horrible record and the team was dismantled by the Packers. It was only a matter of time before Childress was standing in the unemployment line. He couldn’t control the locker room and Favre, made such questionable decisions on and off the field, which made the Vikings front office to question Childress motive and direction for the team. Now Childress joins Wade Phillips two coaches to be terminated during the middle of the season. Will the Vikings make the playoffs, not a chance, will the Brett Favre return, no freaking way ( at least that is what he said ). The Vikings have all the talent but poor coaching can be the death of a team.

Say hello to the FBI Cam and Cecil Newton!

The story has more twists and turns than space has stars! Now a man by the name of Bill Bell has come forward and said he received text messages from Rogers and Cecil Newton about a payment schedule. The payment schedule would be 3 installments varying between $50,000-$80,000, and would start the day after Cam Newton signed at the school. Now this news comes at quite a blow to the investigation into the added benefits Cam Newton received or if he did receive any money to play. I have said it before and I will say it again: Where there is smoke there is fire. Although Bill Bell did not have the text messages on his “new” phone they are however on his old cell phone which apparently went swimming. He is working with his service provider to retrieve the text messages, which if they are on the cellular device will not be too difficult to retrieve.

Also with the FBI starting to step up their investigation into the matter this case is only going to get dissected even farther. An attorney for John Bond, a former player at Mississippi State stated his client has been interviewed by the FBI. Now this part is very important for one part, the NCAA can’t subpoena anyone, but the FBI can! They will be able to pull all the facts from this case and individuals more quickly than the NCAA could ever hope to.

What this whole issue is going to boil down to is two things: 1.) does the NCAA want to pull another National Championship from a school and 2.) Does the board of trustees want to pull another Heisman from an athlete? The answer to both questions is no. Neither NCAA nor the Heisman board want to go through all the trouble and embarrassment, so anything they can do to prevent this situation from happening will be done.

There is just no possible way Cecil Newton did all of this without Cam Newton’s knowledge. Cam is going to play dumb until the facts of the story come out and then leave for the NFL. Auburn is still going to play Cam until they get smacked and potentially banned from college football by the NCAA. Cecil Newton is still going to preach at his church until he goes to jail on federal crimes for extortion.

We will have to just wait and see…..
