Derek Jeter’s contract ran out at the end of the World Series and contract
negations have begun. It is a no-brainier that the Yankees have to resign
Jeter. He is the face of the franchise, especially after the passing of
The Boss Mr. George Steinbrenner. Jeter is loved by all the fans of New
York and too lose him would be as if he had passed away also. The cost for
Derek is going to be irrelevant, the length of the contract is going to be
irrelevant; it is that he retires in a Yankee uniform which is going to
make all the difference in the world. Face it New York Derek Jeter is the
face of the Yankees.
