Performance Enhancing Shoes?

The NBA has banned a show because the manufacturer claims it can increase the vertical leap of the wearer. Now of all things the NBA could ban they ban a shoe. If they really wanted to make a difference they would have banned some of the crazy looking hair styles some of the players sport during games (i.e. Ron Artest, you look like an idiot).

The Athletic Propulsion Labs Concept 1 shoe costs around $300 and does promote the claim to increase the vertical leap of the person wearing the show. The designers have said that several NBA players have inquired about the shoes. When you try to go to their website right now it says “Because of the NBA ban announcement today, we are experiencing an enormous amount of traffic”. In other words everyone wants these shoes. I am a little skeptical about a shoe being able to increase my vertical leap. Does it have jump jets in the bottom; do the shoes somehow distort the laws of gravity? I guess I will have to wait and see if Athletic Propulsion Labs claims are true.
